ZURICH-August 24 - The Russian Hockey Federation was fined Monday over the national team snubbing Canada's victory celebrations after the world championship final.
The sport's governing body, IIHF, said the Russian players deliberately left the ice before Canada's national anthem was played after a signal from captain Ilya Kovalchuk.

WINNIPEG-I don't usually watch "The Amazing Race Canada", but it was filmed in Winnipeg, so I thought I'll have a look. The 2 girls from the Olympic Team have been quite good at all the tasks...well, except for hockey.....

WINNIPEG-Tragedy struck the Heartbreakers on Sunday September 29 as first year player Ross Galbraith, 55, suffered a heart attack during the first game of the season. Heartbreakers players as well as an off-duty paramedic and nurse provided immediate life saving measures until the ambulance arrived, but despite everyone’s best efforts, Ross sadly passed away later that evening at St. Boniface Hospital.

A proposed 22% jump in the cost of ice time rentals at city-run rinks will result in a substantial hit to the wallets of Winnipeg’s senior hockey players.

WINNIPEG-November 20- Heartbreakers manager Dave Springett announced today that veteran Pat Lelliott answered the call for a defenseman and has been placed on the clubs active roster for the upcoming European tour. "It all just came together for me" Lelliott was quoted as saying. "I'm really looking forward to it". The club leaves for Munich on January 20, 2011 for the five-game tour in Germany and Austria.
